Kerastase unveils a revolutionary solution to unmanageable hair and we reveal our top tips for fighting frizz.
According to our recent hair survey, 1 in 3 women are concerned about unruly, hard-to-manage hair.
That’s a lot of ladies out there who dread washing and styling their hair at home, or shudder at the thought of a humid or rainy day. Unmanageable hair can be frustrating and causes a lot of wasted time in front of the mirror every day.
After much anticipation, Kerastase have unveiled Discipline, an in-salon treatment and a 3-step home haircare collection that truly delivers what it promises. The collection harnesses the power of Keratin at its highest concentration in order to bring discipline and reparation to the hair, smoothing each fibre, controlling movement and enhancing fluidity. This revolutionary new range promises to cut down blow-drying time and delivers smooth, frizz-free results that last – regardless if your hair is thick or thin, curly or straight.
The luxurious, in-salon treatment lasts from 45 minutes – 90 minutes and varies between $100 and $220, depending on your hair length. Results will last up to 10 washes, a blessing for those who expect value for money (the treatment costs a fraction of most chemical straightening processes) and long lasting results. (Read more here)
The home haircare collection also promises amazing results, notably a much faster blow-dry and 72 hours of anti-frizz and anti-humidity protection. It is also beautifully packaged and smells incredible; you’ll actually start to look forward to washing your hair. (discover the collection here)
We love this new collection and have put together a few tips to help fight frizz at home:
Use the right haircare and styling products
We can’t stress how important it is to use the right hair care range and styling products for your specific hair needs. So many people get this wrong; using the wrong products regardless of how much they cost cause many of your hair concerns. Our salons offer a complimentary diagnosis to help you learn more about what your hair needs.
Yes, even the towel you use after showering can have a huge effect on your hair, so make the change to microfiber towels and you will quickly notice the difference. The microfibers will calm and not agitate the frizz in your hair, leaving it smoother than with a regular towel.
Instead of applying conditioner in a circular motion, apply conditioner downwards from your lengths to your ends. This action will smooth the cuticle of your hair, which will assist in combating frizz.
Be gentle when towel drying your hair. When you rub your hair dry, you are pushing the cuticle out of place, which in turn causes frizz.
Avoid brushing dry hair
Brushing dry hair disrupts your hair’s cuticle and can also stretch it, leading to breakage. Try combing dry hair with wet fingers instead.
Sleeping on a silk pillow can do wonders for your hair at night. Silk causes less friction between your hair and the pillow, which results in less frizz and a longer-lasting blowdry.
If you run out of your favourite frizz-fighting styling product at home, a quick solution is to spray your hairbrush thoroughly with a dry hair spray and comb through your charge
It doesn’t matter if your hair is straight or wavy – if it’s been chemically treated and is unmanageable, a sulfate free hair care system is always the best way to go.
Did you know that both your skin and hair is working double-time during the night? It’s getting rid of bad toxins and soaking up anything good, so this is the time to infuse your hair with nourishing ingredients and treatments. We recommend working a nourishing treatment such as Kerastase Nectare Thermique through your lengths and ends and securing with a soft hair-tie overnight.
