Are you using the right hair care? You might need an expert diagnosis to switch up your routine and get on the path to a healthy scalp and beautiful hair. We chat to Maurice Meade Kerastase expert Charlotte Stroh about the diagnostic process and how it can transform your hair.
Q: What exactly does a Kerastase ‘diagnosis’ involve?
A: It starts with a sit down chat to pinpoint the client’s main hair concerns, and find out how they feel about their hair overall. We then use the Kerastase diagnostic camera to look at their hair and scalp up close, which feeds through to an iPad screen so that the client can watch. Based on what we see, we prescribe a customised take home hair care routine to target any concerns. If needed, sometimes we will also recommend an in-salon treatment program.
Q: Why is it so important to get diagnosed?
A: Everyone’s hair and scalp is unique, and it’s important to remember that the health of your scalp is so important to the overall health of your hair. If left untreated, scalp issues can lead to things like hair loss, dullness and premature ageing of the hair follicle. Most of the time, you won’t see the ‘root’ cause of the problems you notice with your hair without looking at your scalp under the microscope! Getting a properly prescribed routine will help to catch any issues early, keep your scalp balanced and your hair looking and feeling healthy.
Q: For those who are short on time, how long does it take?
A: The entire process should take no longer than 15 minutes.
Q: How does the Kerastase camera work, and what can it tell me about my hair and scalp?
A: The Kerastase diagnostic camera looks at your hair and scalp up close – it actually magnifies by up to 500 times! By doing this, we can see things like sensitivity, dandruff, dryness, oiliness, the density of your hair, and damage that you often can’t see with the naked eye.
Q: Is it possible to track my progress in salon?
A: Yes! We will track your progress, complete with pictures, so that you can physically see your hair and scalp transforming. As the transformation unfolds and any issues are corrected, we may recommend some tweaks to your prescribed routine along the way.
Q: Is a booking essential to get a diagnosis?
A: A Kerastase consultation is free of charge, however we do recommend that clients make a booking to ensure that we can accommodate them and offer an in-depth consultation.
