Soft, bouncy waves are one of our most requested styles in salon and it’s no surprise. We talk you through our top tips to getting angelic hair.
According to the backstage ghd hair team at this year’s show: ‘Hair with movement’ was key to the brief and each Angel was given a bespoke look. A mix of curls and waves were created using both the ghd curve™ classic curl tong and soft curl tong, on sections of hair varying in size and thickness. To ensure the finished look had a London edge, the ends of each section were left loose and uncurled. A blast from the ghd air™ hairdryer broke up the curls and finished the look. The curls and waves came into their own as the Angels took to the runway, moving and lifting into a halo of texture as they walked.
Top tips for getting Angelic hair:
It’s the cut that counts.
We’ve been saying it for years, but it really is the key to effortless styling. If you want that extra lift and a longer-lasting style, layers cut into your hair will achieve that bouncy, full look.
Use a holding foam
For shine, body and staying-power, we love Kerastase Boucles D’art Flexible Hold Foam Mousse applied on damp hair and scrunched throughout.
Dry your hair the right way.
If you have a weak hairdryer, it’s time to upgrade to something more powerful. The more conditioning your hairdryer is, the longer the staying power will be. Prep your hair with a blow-drying gel like Kerastase Form Fatale for extra smoothness and texture.
Volume, volume, volume.
If you lack volume, do what the angels do and get extensions put in. Our stylists will help you select the right shade to suit your hair type. We love new ShowPony extensions – in all Maurice Meade salons now.
Ditch your irons – ghd have just released the new Curve curling wands and tongs collection that have made curling your hair easier than ever. There are options to choose from in this collection, both the ghd curve™ classic curl tong and soft curl tong are perfect for this look. When you purchase your tongs, ask your Maurice Meade stylist to show you how to curl correctly – it will make all the difference. Click here to read more about ghd curve.
Brush out your curls using the correct brush.
For a natural look with movement, gently brush out your curls using a soft bristle brush like the Shu Uemura boar bristle paddle brush. If you’ve been using a comb to do this, or not brushing out your curls out at all, this is probably where you’re going wrong.
