February 2018January 2018September 2017July 2017

We’ve been watching the catwalks and red carpets to bring you the best up-and-coming trends for hair and beauty in 2014.

Heading into a new year always makes us eager for fresh beginnings. Whether it’s embarking on a new fitness routine, shaking up your style or vowing to spend more time with your loved ones, we’re all craving a change. Updating your look with a fresh new cut, colour or style is one of the quickest and easiest changes you can make in your life that will leave you feeling fresh and ready to take on the new year.

COLOUR TRENDS

Keep it Natural: For those who prefer to keep it classic, 2014 will see an emphasis on more natural looking hair colour with subtle highlights and lowlights that add texture and depth. Chat with your colourist to see the best way to keep your hair looking soft yet multi-dimensional.

Beige Blonde: Sticking with the trend towards natural hair colour, beige blonde is going to be big in 2014.

Red is the New Blonde: Our stylist Monica says that there will be a huge variety of red hair colours taking the forefront in the new year, it’s just a matter of selecting the right shade to compliment your skin tone! There are more redheads than ever becoming hair icons on the red carpets, with the look remaining feminine and eye-catching.

Playing with Colour: It’s time to have some fun and take some risks! Early 2014 will see an exciting launch in some revolutionary temporary hair colour in our salons, so you can experiment without the commitment!

Rose Gold: It’s the metallic shade we have been coveting for our clothing and accessories for the past few seasons, but in 2014 rose gold is going to be a big trend in hair colour. Think somewhere between strawberry blonde and redhead – it’s simply gorgeous.

Icy Brunette: A cool toned, mocha brunette is on the horizon.

Silver Blonde: This shade is rich blonde near the roots with lighter blonde through the lengths and subtle silvery highlights.
STYLE TRENDS

Sixties Style: A retro revival continues in 2014, with emphasis on big hair and bold cat-eye makeup. This look is all about the volume.

Low buns, ponytails and chignons: In the past it has been all about the topknot, but this year things are moving down low! Wearing your hair lower down towards the nape of your neck, either in a bun, twist or tuck is effortlessly chic.

Embellishments: From flowers to chains to coins, adding accessories to your ‘do is a trend that keeps growing.

Mermaid Waves: This laid back look if so effortlessly pretty and easy to achieve. Position loose waves randomly throughout your hair and use a texturising spray to get the tousled look.

Va-Va Volume: Big hair is only going to keep getting bigger. Achieve big hair with volume powders, dry shampoos, hot rollers and blowdry gels.

The Wet Look Goes Wearable: The ‘wet’ look hair that has been all over the runways forthe past couple of years is set to become more wearable in 2014. The more real-life friendly version of this style is more brushed out and relaxed – just make sure you keep your makeup polished to avoid looking messy

CUT TRENDS

Short Hair: going for the chop is a perfect way to change up your look for the new year. In 2013 we have seen many ladies transform into hair style icons by trading in their longer locks for bobs and pixie cuts. The lob has been trending for the last few seasons and will be carried through to 2014 – but we dare you to go shorter! 2014 will be about that ‘in between length’.

MAKE-UP TRENDS

2014Go Bare: The bare faced look is beautiful (and on trend!), so don’t be afraid to strip back your makeup routine to just the bare necessities. This trend is great for day-to-day wear as well as low-key events and Summer soirees in the heat! Embrace your natural beautyand leave the caked on face behind. To make a statement, wear a bold lip but keep the rest of your face bare.
